How you can help: Ways to donate, volunteer after Hurricane Helene (2025)

Many organizations in the Upstate are working to support the local community following the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene.

Here is a list of local organizations and how residents can help. Check back regularly for updates. (Updated Oct. 4, 2:05 p.m.)

Donations

United Way of Greenville County

The United Way of Greenville County is partnering with the city of Greenville to hold a community supplies donation drive at TD Saturday Market to “Fill the Penske for Greenville.” The organization will be set up on West McBee in downtown Greenville to collect items from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 5.

Requested items include:

  • Pop top canned goods
  • Boxed meals (pasta, rice, cereal)
  • Peanut butter and protein bars
  • Bottled water and sports drinks
  • Diapers, baby wipes and formula
  • Hygiene products (soap, toothpaste, feminine hygiene)
  • First aid supplies
  • Cleaning supplies

Donations can also be dropped off at 105 Edinburg Court, Greenville from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Oct. 5.Monetary donations can be made at unitedwaygc.org/uwgc-relief.

M. Judson Booksellers

M. Judson Booksellers will host a food and relief drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 5. The items requested for donation include batteries, flashlights, pet food, bottled water, first aid products, shelf-stable foods, gas containers, diapers, hygiene products and more.

The items will go towards supporting those impacted by Hurricane Helene. M. Judson Booksellers is hosting the event for Loaves and Fishes Greenville and Happy Helicopters.Community members are encouraged to drop off items at the bookstore 130 S. Main St. in Greenville. YMCA of Greenville

The YMCA of Greenville is partnering with United Way of Greenville County and LiveWell Greenville to collect supplies for those impacted by Hurricane Helene. Donations can be dropped off at any open YMCA branch location through Oct. 9.

The list of items requested include:

  • Pop top canned good
  • Peanut butter
  • Diapers and baby wipes
  • Pasta, rice and cereal
  • Bottled water
  • Soap and toothpaste
  • Sports drinks
  • Protein bars

United Ministries

United Ministries needs non-expired unopened food items that do not require a can opener for its food pantry. This includes canned meats, crackers, fruit cups, bottled water, kids’ snacks, noodles in a cup, juice, and more.

Food items can be dropped off on Oct. 4 at 606 Pendleton St. in Greenville.

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is asking the community to donate gently-used clothes to its thrift store locations in Greenville, Pickens and Oconee counties. The nonprofit organization is providing vouchers to individuals recovery from Hurricane Helene to pick up clothes from its Upstate thrift stores.

Donations can be dropped off at:

  • Greenville Thrift Store – 2402 E. North St.
  • Taylors Thrift Store – 5152 Wade Hampton Blvd.
  • Clemson Thrift Store – 500B Old Greenville Hwy.
  • Seneca Thrift Store – 513 By-Pass 123

euphoria

euphoria is collecting monetary donations to support those in Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina. Donations can be made by sending a Venmo to @Euphoria-Greenville.

Sustaining Way

Sustaining Way is hosting a hurricane relief donation drive through Oct. 4to support residents in the Nicholtown community who were impacted by Hurricane Helene. Donations of shelf-stable foods that do not require cooking or refrigeration are requested. Other items are needed such as:

  • Air mattresses
  • Bedding
  • Manual air pumps
  • Baby food and formula
  • Diapers
  • Portable battery packs
  • Hygiene products
  • Rechargeable flashlights and lanterns
  • Dog and cat food

Donations can be dropped off each day from 10 a.m. to noon and 4:30 to 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church located at 847 Cleveland St.

Monetary donations towards Sustaining Way’s immediate needs fundraiser can also be submitted at sustainingway.org/donate or by sending a Venmo to @Sustaining_Way.

Project Host

Project Host lost much of its refrigerated and frozen food due to Hurricane Helene. The nonprofit organization is asking for donations of:

  • Processed venison
  • Ground meat
  • Canned proteins
  • Shredded cheese
  • Boneless/skinless chicken
  • Short pasta
  • White rice

Donations can be dropped off at 525 S. Academy St. in Greenville between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. through Oct. 4.

Front Porch Housing

Front Porch Housing is accepting donations of:

  • Nonperishable food and drinks
  • Wipes
  • Batteries
  • Disposable cups, plates and cutlery
  • Toilet paper and paper towels
  • Flashlights and lanterns
  • Cleaning supplies

The community can also purchase donation items directly on the organization’s Amazon Wish List at a.co/934qcAB. Donations can be dropped off at 1433 Cleveland St. in Greenville.

Safe Harbor

Safe Harbor is asking for donations for its domestic violence shelters such as:

  • Batteries
  • Portable chargers
  • Paper products
  • Canned goods
  • Microwave meals
  • Battery operated fans
  • Disinfectant wipes
  • Arts and crafts items

Requested donation item’s for the nonprofit’s resale shop include box fans, dehumidifiers and extension cords. The nonprofit is also requesting donations of chargers, gas gift cards, canned goods, non-perishable food and more for its housing and advocacy program. Donation items can be dropped off at the Rupert Huse Veteran Center at 770 Pelham Road in Greenville from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Miracle Hill Ministries

Miracle Hill Ministries, an organization that provides services for homeless adults and children, is requesting donations for its rescue missions and addiction recovery centers. Updated items needed include:

  • Bottled water
  • Pre-cooked meat
  • Peanut butter
  • Coffee
  • Pasta noodles
  • Dairy products

Residents can drop off their donations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 725 Keith Drive, Greenville. Monetary donations can also be made directly to Miracle Hill at miraclehill.org/give. For more information, call 864-704-9838.

Loaves and Fishes

Loaves and Fishes, a nonprofit food rescue organization, is asking for donations of shelf-stable foods that do not need to be cooked or refrigerated. This includes bread, peanuts, beef jerky, flour tortillas, apples, protein pouches and more. Donations of instant foods such as instant noodles or mashed potatoes are also being accepted.

To donate, call 864-232-3595 or email info@werescuefood.org to arrange a drop-off time with the organization.

A Child’s Haven

A Child’s Haven is asking for monetary donations for its emergency relief fund that will help keep their services running. The nonprofit organization provides therapeutic care to children who are victims of abuse and neglect.

Donations can be made online at form-renderer-app.donorperfect.io/give/a-childs-haven/basic-online-gift. Residents are also encouraged to contact MaKayla Patterson at makaylap@achildshaven.org or Rebekah Muhilly at rebekahm@achildshaven.org to learn about other ways they can support the nonprofit.

Dog Culture

Dog Culture is running a pet supply drive for local animal shelters. Items such as pet food, crates, clean blankets, bedding, clean towels, treats, toys, cat litter and more are requested.

Greer Relief

Greer Relief needs food donations and volunteers. The nonprofit organization is asking for donations of perishable and non-perishable foods such as:

  • Soup
  • Breakfast
  • Peanut butter
  • Canned veggies
  • Pasta and pasta sauce
  • Milk
  • Eggs
  • Cheese

Volunteers to sort and distribute the food are also requested. Greer Relief is located at the Indigo Hope Neighborhood Impact Center at 113C Berry Ave. in Greer. The emergency disaster food relief distribution will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Oct. 4.

Blood Donations

The Blood Connection

Eligible community members are asked to donate platelets or whole blood to The Blood Connection.People can also donate blood at one of the organization’s Upstate locations including:

  • Greenville – 435 Woodruff Road
  • Easley – 5116 Calhoun Memorial Hwy.
  • Anderson – 101 Hanna Crossing
  • Spartanburg – 270 N. Grove Medical Park Drive
  • Oconee (Seneca) – 1308 Sandifer Blvd.

American Red Cross

Community members wanting to donate blood to the American Red Cross can schedule an appointment at one of the organization’s locations in the Upstate.

Volunteers

Conestee Nature Preserve

A volunteer clean up day will be held at the Conestee Nature Preserve from 9 to 11 a.m. on Oct. 4. To sign up as a volunteer, visit dash.pointapp.org/admin/events/212998.

Harvest Hope Food Bank

Volunteers are needed at Harvest Hope Food Bank to sort donations and distribute food. The nonprofit’s Upstate location serves Greenville and Laurens counties. It is located at 2818 White Horse Road, Greenville.

Residents are invited to sign up to volunteer at give.harvesthope.org/volunteer_calendar.

Bike Walk Greenville

Bike Walk Greenville is asking residents to help clean up the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail following Hurricane Helene. Those who can safely access the trail are encouraged to DM the organization with their availability and location on Facebook or Instagram.

Meals on Wheels Anderson

Meals on Wheels is asking for volunteers to help cover routes and deliver food over the next few days to seniors and homebound individuals in Anderson County. For anyone interested, call 864-225-6800 or email info@acmow.org.

Homes of Hope

Homes of Hope is requesting more volunteers to help clean up more than 30 homes that were damaged by Hurricane Helene. The nonprofit organization creates affordable housing for families across the Upstate.

People with experience with chainsaws and clearing brush are preferred. Those interested can fill out the online volunteer form.

Homes of Hope is also asking for monetary donations to fund the home repairs along with the resident’s insurance deductible expenses and possible rent loss. Donations can be made at homesofhope.org/donate/.
